Generally, the are many types of materials available for faucets and taps. The most commonly use materials in the Malaysia market are stainless steel, brass, and plastic.

• Stainless steel faucet and tap have a higher hardness capability and higher melting point compared to other faucet materials. 
• Stainless steel usually uses 304 material which is food grade material.
• 304 material stainless steel is safe for consumption application.

​Brass Faucet​ Faucet And Tap

• Brass faucet and tap have good corrosion resistance and will not rust through like iron.
• However brass has a relatively lower melting point.
• ​Brass faucets can be chrome plated to achieve a smooth surface finish.

​Plastic Faucet​ And Tap

• Plastic faucet and tap have the lightest weight as compared to other materials.
• Due to its lightweight characteristics, it is considered easy to install.
• Plastic is also considered relatively cheaper than metal material.

​The 3 Basic Types of Faucets And Taps

Faucets and taps come in different shapes, types, and sizes. The faucets and taps are constructed as either one of the following three types of mechanisms.

​Compression Type 

The oldest faucet and tap mechanism is compression type. The knob or handle has a stem attached underneath with a washer or sealer. The washer or sealer will press against the base valve seat to close the water flow path.

​Ceramic Disc Cartridge Type

The ceramic disc cartridge faucet and tap consist of a valve switch. The valve switch will incorporate slide motion or rotate motion against the water inlet and outlet which use to block and open the opening of water flow entirely.

​Ball Type

Ball type faucet and tap do not use a washer or sealer to stop the water flow. Instead, it uses a metal ball within the faucet or tap to control the amount of water flowing. The metal ball will swivel up, down, left, or right until the opening valve and the closing valve is aligned then the water will flow smoothly.

Pillar Mount

Faucets and taps will be installed vertically straight against the deck, sink, or basin.

Wall Mount

Faucets and taps will be installed horizontally directly against the wall.
