What is the difference between PE pipe with Sirim compliance and Non-Sirim compliance?

The Malaysian Standard ( Sirim ) of polyethylene pipe (PE Pipe)  systems compliance was developed by the working group authority of the plastics products industry standard committee and partner. This Malaysian Standard is the fourth revision of MS 1058: Part 2, Specification for PE pipe systems for water supply.

Characteristic for Sirim compliance PE pipe ?​

• PE pipe sirim is intended design for the conveyance of water for human consumption.
• PE pipe sirim went through strict laboratory material testing.
• PE pipe sirim has greater hydrostatic strength.

Characteristic for Non-Sirim compliance PE pipe ?​

• PE pipe non-sirim does not went through strict laboratory material testing.
• PE pipe sirim has lower hydrostatic strength.

When should we use Sirim or Non-Sirim compliance PE pipe?

• Large scale project that requires strict compliance or requires an external party for audit purpose, then sirim compliance PE pipe is the best option
• Small scale project or light-duty application that does not require strict compliance then non-sirim compliance PE pipe is the best option.​
